Terms as posted by each store in October 2026. They change, so read the fine print on each site.

Lowe's

Verify at Lowe's

  1. Create or sign in to your account at lowes.com and join MyLowe's Rewards.
  2. Pick the military discount and choose "Verify with ID.me". You verify once.
  3. Online: stay signed in and the 10% comes off at checkout.
  4. In the store: give the cashier the phone number on your MyLowe's account. They may ask for a photo ID.
  5. A spouse needs their own MyLowe's account. A MyLowe's Pro account can't carry the military discount.

In our October 2026 Lowe's cart, the 10% military discount came off on top of the DeWalt "Buy 1, Get More" deal: another $44.90 off the $449 tier. Lowe's posted terms say the discount can't be combined with other offers, so check your cart total before you pay.

Home Depot

Verify at Home Depot

  1. Create or sign in to your account at homedepot.com.
  2. Open the military discount page and verify through SheerID. You get a virtual military ID.
  3. Online: sign in before you check out.
  4. In the store: show the virtual ID on your phone at the register.
  5. The discount stops at $400 a year, so save it for big tool purchases.
PX

Home Depot through the Exchange

  1. Shop Home Depot through the Army & Air Force Exchange: no sales tax, and the military discount on top.
  2. Honorably discharged veterans can shop the Exchange online after a one-time veteran verification on the Exchange site.
  3. In our experience the Exchange takes the veteran discount on top of an advertised Home Depot price, which the regular Home Depot site and stores don't do. Compare the final price before you buy.
GovX

Is GovX worth it?

  1. GovX is a members-only store for military, veterans and first responders. Signing up is free.
  2. Some brands give real discounts there, but many tool prices are no better than a Lowe's or Home Depot sale. Always compare before you buy.

Parking, ID and Veterans Day

  1. Both Lowe's and Home Depot mark veteran and military parking near an entrance at many stores.
  2. Around Veterans Day (November 11) both chains often run military promotions and giveaways. We post them on our deals page the day they go live.
  3. Keep a photo ID with you; cashiers can ask for it even when your account is verified.
